I believe the e-bay seller had no idea there was anything fishy about the item. That kind of thing is really frustrating. I am sympathetic to a small business (the "owner" of the firewall) having someone sell their stuff out from underneath them. So, now I'm not quite sure how to proceed. I asked them how they got my info, they told me Sonicwall gave it to them(thanks "security" company). They told me they had a deal to lease it to another company, who went into non-payment. Shortly after the registration, I get an email from someone telling me that it's their router. It ended up being pretty straight forward, and I had it registered in two days. I proceeded to go through the Sonicwall registration process without a transfer. I contacted the seller, and they informed me they got it at a liquidation sale, and they didn't have any contact info for the business, it was closed. I wanted to register it, but it came up as already registered (no other info). The firewall came to me completely blank, it was unregistered and had no settings, it was factory state. They appear like any other reseller on E-Bay. The seller has a really old account, with lots of sales, and lots of positive reviews. I recently bought a Sonicwall router off E-Bay. Is this a good place to ask a ethics, possibly legal question?
